Infused vs Regular Pre-Rolls: What's the Difference?
A regular pre-roll is only ground flower rolled in paper. An infused pre-roll adds concentrate, such as oil, diamonds or kief, so it burns slower and feels noticeably stronger. Almost every Jeeter is infused. If you're used to regular pre-rolls, start with a half gram and take your time with the first few puffs.

What's in a regular pre-roll?
A regular pre-roll is the simplest form of cannabis: dried, cured flower, ground and rolled in paper with a filter tip, or crutch, at one end. Its flavor and effect come entirely from the strain. It's the closest thing to rolling your own joint, done for you. Wikipedia's page on the joint (opens in a new tab)) covers the history and basics.
What's added to an infused pre-roll?
An infused pre-roll adds concentrate to the flower. Depending on the style, that can mean:
- Oil mixed into the flower or brushed onto the paper.
- THCa diamonds: crystallized THCa.
- Live resin or live rosin; see live resin vs live rosin.
- Kief coated on the outside.
Jeeter's lines combine these in different ways, from the original Infused 1g to the layered Quad-Infused.
How do they compare?
| Feature | Regular | Infused |
|---|---|---|
| What's inside | Flower only | Flower plus concentrate |
| Strength | Depends on the strain | Noticeably stronger |
| Burn | Steady | Slower, can go out more often |
| Flavor | Pure strain | Richer, layered |
| Best for | Light, familiar sessions | Experienced smokers, longer sessions |
Do infused pre-rolls smoke differently?
Yes. They burn slower and hotter, and the kief coating can flare briefly when lit. They also go out more often than plain pre-rolls, simply because they burn slowly. None of this is a fault. Toast the tip evenly, take slow puffs, and relight gently when needed; our guide to lighting an infused pre-roll explains the technique.
Because they burn slowly, infused pre-rolls also last longer per session, so a smaller size often goes further than you'd expect from its weight.
How should you try your first infused pre-roll?
If you're used to regular pre-rolls, treat your first infused one with respect. Start with a smaller size, take one or two puffs, then wait several minutes before deciding on more. Effects from smoking arrive quickly but keep building, and infused products are stronger than they first seem. Our start low, go slow post covers the basics.
A half-gram Baby Jeeter or a Cannon three-pack is an easy first step, and our how to choose a Jeeter pre-roll guide compares every style.
Which infused Jeeter styles are there?
- Infused 1g: the original Jeeter, a single one-gram infused pre-roll.
- Jeeter XL: a two-gram infused pre-roll for long sessions and sharing.
- Baby Jeeter: five half-gram infused pre-rolls in one pack.
- Quad-Infused: layered with diamonds, rosin and kief; Jeeter's strongest style.
- Cannon Live Resin and Cannon Live Rosin: flavor-led pre-rolls with a wide crutch.
Our how to choose a Jeeter pre-roll guide compares them side by side.
Should you mix infused and regular pre-rolls?
If you switch between them, keep in mind that an infused pre-roll can feel much stronger than the regular ones you're used to. Take fewer puffs than you would with a regular pre-roll, especially the first few times, and avoid having both in the same session until you know how they affect you. Avoid mixing cannabis with alcohol, and never drive after using it.
Are infused pre-rolls good value?
Because they're stronger, many people find a smaller infused pre-roll does the job of a larger regular one, which can balance out a higher price per gram. Prices for every size are on each product page. The best value is usually the size you'll finish while it's fresh; see how long pre-rolls stay fresh.
